xp workstations - serious network slowness problem
I am managing a network of about 15 XP Pro workstations (all up to date with patches, etc) and an SBS 2008 DC. The users have complained regularly about slowness and over the last several weeks / months we've tested everything possible that could be tested - the key test being a speedtest.net test showing up/down & latency. Results:- The server speed is consistently fine;- Any laptop connected to the router or any switch in the network is fine;- Any XP workstation in the network gets normal download speeds but upload speed is either 0.01 or 0.02 mbps (where "normal" for this connection would be 0.24-0.26 mbps); All the workstations have this problem - and to confirm it was the XP installation and nothing to do with a faulty switch, cable, server setup, router, etc the final test was a fresh install of XP Pro onto a workstation, run the test, it's slow; reinstall the same workstation with Vista, run the test, works fine! It's only the upload speed - download is normal.Anyone have any ideas about what could cause this? All workstations - not just one brand / NIC type either, various types. Most perplexing.Thanks,NetEss1 person needs an answerI do too

HiI would take one computer put it by itself (or with a small peer-to-peer) in a configuration that is Not Internet /software/hardware related to your business network. See how it behave on its own (take home if allowed and try it on your home Network). Jack-MVP Windows Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET
