xp wont use shared printer on Win 7 home network HP3030
xp won tuse shared printer on Win 7 home network. XP will see the shared printer and folders and folders can be accessed fine not the printer. I know I need to add aditional drivers to Win & printer properties, by the way its a HP3030 PCL 5 printer. I tried installling the cd software from HP on the XP box but it cant find any printers to add though I can see it in the printers folder. Where can I get these additional driver files to install on my Win 7 box. I'v tried everything I can think if. Went to HP site, MS site and just cant find the answer.

Here's a short tutorial on how to share printers in Windows 7 and XP since I'm not sure how much you know. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-7/share-files-and-printers-between-windows-7-and-xp/When you do this command from the run command \\windows7computer-ipaddress\ (as an example) and if the Windows 7 has properly shared the printer, you should be able to see the printer and any other shares. When you right click and connect, it will prompt you for the driver. here's your driver http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=378056&prodNameId=378058&swEnvOID=228&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=lj-21941-3Look and read carefully on how to add the network printer (which I already explained in a easier fashion if you know the Windows 7 IP address).MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Hi,Please take your time to perform the above Cdobbs's suggestions. If the driver cannot be installed on Windows 7 machine, please install it in Compatibility Mode for a test. When the driver is installed successfully on Windows 7 machine, please share the printer and access it on another machine to check the result. Thanks,Novak
