xp vista networking
I have 2 XP machines networked thru wireless router. Both XP computers see and share documents and printers. I added vista to network. Vista does not see other computers, however other computers see vista but cannot access( i get you don't have permission to access, i checked sharing in Vista, its for everyone). Before i hooked up vista to network i did following configurations on vista PC> changed workgroup to existing name> disabled IP 6 protocol> router handles DHCP, enabled Netbios over TCP IP.>Downloaded LLTDiscovery and Responder downloaded installed.>Printer and file sharing is turned on. SHares are changed to everyone. Why i cantaccess vista computer from XP computers? Why vista does not discover display other XP computers, even LLTD is installed? Please help.

1. Go to Control Panel > Classic View > Network and Sharing Center and make sure you have Network Discovery, File Sharing and Public Folder Sharing all set to On and Password Protected Sharing to Off. If you want to use passwords, you have to set up identical usernames and passwords on all computers in your network. 2. Firewall settings, perhaps?

All of those settings were right from beginning when i joined Vista to existing workgroup. Firewall is offI recently removed Norton from computer.I just noticed, when i check WIndows Security Center, i see Windows Firewall off but Norton Antivirus on. Nothing about Norton internet securityI am thinking there is a fatal system issues with my networking. I have broad understanding of networking including Vista.By the way i reinstalled Vista with clean install. That did not solve problem neither.Good Damn VIsta is driving me nuts. This is far worst product damn Microsoft put on the market.

Recheck function.[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message.
