xp computer (32 bit) cant wirelessly connect to shared printer on win 7 64 bit
Am using Canon iP4000 Pixma printer. It is attached to my computer. I have shared it, as lap top needs to access printer via wireless connection. I am using Netgear DG834GV Modem/router
Have set up so printer is visible to laptop, but when tries to connect message about files not present appears. Win7 x64 will not allow Canon 32 bit driver to be installed, even under compatability mode.
Installed printer driver under XP virtualisation (Win 7, Win XP). I get the message that an .inf file is neded - what to do?
When we had 2 x win xp 32 bit machines it would work fineany advice would be really welcome

Hi Peterste,
This issue occurs if you were trying to install 32bit printer driver. I recommend that you search and download the 64bit Windows Vista compatible driver from the following website and install it.
Canon driver download

Thanks Arthur, i ended up installing a print server to get around this issue. I really bumbled my way through the whole procedure and it was a miracle that i got the whole thing to work. The cd driver UI adds to the problem, when i browsed around the cd and found the right .inf file, that really helped.
