wrong product key
i installed windows 7 in dual with vista on separate HD everything went well till windows 7 is asking for the product key then I receive the message that this is not a windows 7 key and i just can cancel and stop the activation. Every time I start windows 7 it goes to this activation and I'm stuck. What can I do to activate it with the key I received with the download.

Finish the installation without entering a product key. Next, search for "Activate Windows" in the search bar in the start menu and go the the applicable program "Activate". Next, go back to the Windows 7 site and get a new key and use that to activate your beta software.

Kinda weird, I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the product code for me when I downloaded the beta was different before the download manager started, afterward a second code appeared...So if you write down the code before you start the download you may experience this. I wrote down both codes, and the second one is the one that worked. If you close your browser window after the download manager starts you will just have to activate it online through windows.

Ialreadydid this 4 times but no key worked. If I don't activate than I just get the IE with the genuine checking page of windows vista. That's it, the only thing after this page is log off windows 7.

Did you use a windows activator to activate it prior to MS giving everyone a key? If so, youll need to uninstall it first then activate. If you tried more than one of these 'activators' you'll need to uninstall all of them. Also, if you cant successfully remove them. You will need to reinstall (upgrade option may work) W7 using a official iso from their website. Which I dont think you can get anymore as it is now past the 24th.

M22471,Posting of Keys in the forum is not acceptable.Product keys are not required for Beta download but are needed within 30 days of download. Anyone who did not receive a product key during their original download, simply need to return to the download site and click the product key tab to secure an individual product key.

wierd enough most keys that are in his post are the same keys if got
i runningup against the same problem no key i have tried seem to work
i evenused a diferent live.mail account to geta new key
im stumbed
al works fine until the key is asked on both ends
prior to the install en after the install no errors there
Iget the nice log in screen with name pasword etc then it asks for the key again
the only way i get in is with the reduce functionality
going straigth to the genuine page ???
i stil wondering why the asked me what version vista i had
could that be the missing link ?
i even asked here if you needed a vista or not they assured me that is not needed
but is stil wonder why it asked me for the vista version i had (i havexp )
offcourse i filled in the ultimate ;) the first time
since i understood from the sysreq vista was not needed
i figure this was a not functional qeustion forthe clean install i did
later i reinstalled with home basic since that is what the vista advisor told me

Hi EricVdM
When you installed Windows 7, did you enter the Product Key during the installation process?
If you did not enter the product key during installation you would have been given a choice as to which version of Windows 7 you wanted to install. If you picked any other version than Ultimate, then the product key you received when you downloaded Windows 7, will not work.
Let us know.

Eric! there is only one windows 7 ultimate released. is it the one you have? or do you have a vista version which is twisted to look like windows 7? Do you have a standard keyboard?
Cheers

Well for a start, there seem to be 4 product keys for 32bit and 4 for 64bit so saying everyone is getting a unique one is downright wrong.Everytime you refresh the page the key changes, but there are only 4 possibilities. Friends of mine have the same scenario so it cant be that 4 keys are assigned to me....
