wireless works on 2 networks, but not a third
I have Win7 on a new Acer laptop. At home it connects to my wireless and at school it connects to the college wireless. But when I am at my friends house it refuses to let me connect, even though I have all the necessary info, I set up her network. It finds the network, tells me it's a public network, but will not allow me to change it to Home network or access anything, anywhere. I am flabergasted by this - I can connect to the college network, my own home network, but not her wireless. Where do I even start to troubleshoot this? (I am new to win7) TIA, Chip

Hi, I just suspect this computer has not got a valid IP Address, please run “ipconfig /all” in a command prompt on this computer and a good computer and compare the outputs. In addition, please try the following: 1. Check if you can ping this router. 2. Update the NIC driver and the router’s firmware. 3. Manually assign IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and the DNS settings to this network adapter referring to the configurations of the computer which works fine and check if it works. Meanwhile, I would like to share the following with you for your reference: Troubleshoot network connection problems Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
