wireless networking
Wireless card is working fine on my laptop, but I am unable to connect to my wireless at my house. I put in the info, the SSID, the passphrase, etc. but it will not connect. The rest of the computers on this network are either XP or Vista, It this because of the homegroup settings? Its an older Compaq laptop, with a D-link PC card wireless card. My wireless is not locked down by MAC address filtering, but it is not visible if your view available networks.

I'm no expert but after reading up on the same issue I think you will find that the 'Homegroup' setting only work between pc's running Win 7 and can not communicate with XP or Vista. I think you will need to change your Network group on Win 7 to Home or Work (i.e. the same as XP and Vista)

I had problems getting my wireless setup. The choice of either autoconnect where it tries to connect without giving you the option to input the SSID and WEP key or manual where I have to input the settings every time I power on thecomputer and log on is a pain. Double check the manual and settings on your wireless router to make sure you are telling Windows the correct security protocol to use. The right SSID and passphrase with the wrong protocol equals no connection.

Have you been able to connect yet? Nothing in your first post indicates that you should be having any problems. -Nick

How do you know the wireless card is working? Did you verify it was working outside your house? Homegroup does not affect your ability to connect wirelessly.
