wireless network cannot be seen in win 7
Dear all, My Fujitsu E8420 with win 7, cannot see my wireless network router D-link Dir-605 and neighbor's wireless routers (All of them can be seen by my another laptop with XP and can web surfing ); However it can see a neighbors' ad hoc network (an icon with three monitors linked by lines). That ad hoc network is 802.11b. I tried to connect it and an icon shown it is connected. Hence I don't think the network card is bad. I checked all things described in link http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-problems-finding-wireless-networks BUT the result is negative. They includes 1. wireless network switch of laptop is on. 2. wireless network router is working. 3. tried netsh wlan add filter permission=allow ssid=mynetwork networktype=infrastructure The wireless network card is Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN. I also tried to set a) Obtain an IPv6 address automatically (Internet Protocol Version 6(TCP/IPv4) Properties) b) Obtain an address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically (Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) Properties) But it is no hope. Lists related to wireless network of netsh dump and ipconfig/all are shown below as reference. Thanks in advance. The netsh dump shows that # ---------------------------------------- # Wireless LAN configuration # ---------------------------------------- pushd wlan # Allow filter list # ---------------------------------------- add filter permission=allow ssid="avon101" networktype="Infrastructure" # Block filter list # ---------------------------------------- popd # End of Wireless LAN Configuration 4. The ipconfig/all shows below Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-21-6A-5F-25-D0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

You need to ensure the passphrase & ssid is the same for both router setting as well as the wireless setting on your laptop

Dear Daniel, Thanks reply. I am sorry that I don't know what is passphrase. I tried wiki but I don't know if my laptop has set it or not. For the ssid, the ssid of my wireless router are set to be visible. However I cannot see it in my win 7 laptop but can be seen by xp laptop.

Hi, The following link for your reference. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-problems-finding-wireless-networks Also, check the wireless setting. You may fully uninstall the driver of the wireless device and reinstall it.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Dear Juke, Thanks a lot. I followed the link before you mentioned but it cannot solve my problem. However, I uninstall the driver and then search the hardware change, win 7 find driver by itself. Then I can see wireless router again. Thanks again.
