wireless issues
I have a XP and a laptop with Vista. My laptop keeps loosing it wireless adapter. It does not seem to reconize it at all. The light doesn't change where the switch to turn it on and off. I have it pushed to the left by the wireless picture so I am assuming this is correct. I have tried it on the right as well. Anyway, I want to know what it is that I need to do to get my wireless working again. HP technical support was absolutely no help, she had me to unistall my network thingy and then I couldn't talk to her. Can someone out there please walk me through all this mess. Thanks, Lisa

Hi Lisa, From your description, I understand that the wireless network adapter on the Windows Vista laptop does not work properly. Based on my experience, this issue can occur if the wireless network adapter is not fully compatible with Windows Vista. If this is the case, please understand that you may need to contact the manufacturer for further troubleshooting. Please be assured that I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue on the system side. Now, I would like to know the model of the laptop and the wireless network adapter. Is the network adapter a built-in or external one? Meanwhile, please perform the following steps to check if the network adapter can be recognized by the system:----------------------------------------------1. Click Start, type Devmgmt.msc in the Start Search box, and press Enter.2. Expand Network Adapters and check if the wireless network adapter being used is shown. If it can be recognized, please check if there is any error shown on the NIC adapter. I look forward to your reply. Sincerely, Joson Zhou Microsoft Online Community Support

Joson, Thanks, I have the same problem as Lisa. MY PC is an HP Pavilion with a built-in wireless card. I don't see any Wireless Adapter's listed under network adapters when I go to the device manager. Help! Anna
