winxp times out connecting to win7
I just got a laptop with win7. Winxp can see the win7 share drive but when I try to copy files to it I get a timeout and then an error message. Something like the network drive is no longer valid. From win7 if I try to connect to winxp I'm asked for a password that never works. The username and password is the same on both boxes but win7 won't connect to xp and xp times out writing to win7. Note the connection exists. The first file I transfer does end up on the win7 drive. But a second or a third or a fourth file fails. Plus recopying the same file might or might not work. This really should work.I have winxp pro 2002 sp3. The win7 box isn't booted right now but I bought it last week. KMS

Hi Kurt Sanger,· Do you have any third party security software installed on the computer?I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if it helps:Step 1:Temporarily disable the antivirus software running on both Windows 7 and Windows XP computer and check if it helps.Disable antivirus software(For Windows 7)Warning:Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.Step 2:Check the status of the issue in safe mode with networking.
