The desktop and start-up shortcuts all change to one programme and all try and link to that one programme .exe file. How do we fix this?

this doesn't make sense...so all your shortcuts in your start menu now link to the same executable? provide a screenshot if you can.Ok, so I changed my name...you can still call me Tom if you like. It's a...jump...to conclusions...mat.

Hi Georgeandkiwi I have seen such behaviour on a couple of machines, and discovered that they were infected with one of the new viruses. Initially therefore, I suggest that you start your fault finding from this start point. Download and use a suitable bootable anti virus tool that can start a scan and identify and correct virus issues. Such tools can't always correct the infestation that they find, but do generally give you a name to work with, from which you can search and find the correct elimination tool. Then, once your system has been cleaned thoroughly, start it in Safe mode and use System Restore to restore your system to an earlier time when all was good and working properly. These remedies will take some considerable time to work through. This is well and good if you understand what you are doing. If unsure, consider getting professional help. The data on your machine is yours.......and very important to you. So take care.....and Good Luck.
