wininit.exe virus
My AVG is going crazy telling me that there my wininit.exe file is infected. I cannot heal it, and the file is located in the System\32 folder. How do I replace and or fix this problem? I have Windows 7 Home Edition and the only things i have tried so far is using AVG to remove it. I have looked at a bunch of links to try and fix it, but i am skeptical of what to use and dont undertand a bunch of others.

Boot your system with the infected drive as a slave drive and scan it from another hosted OS as the master drive. Try different AV solutions as they have some different virus signatures. If you still cannot get to a stable state it might be best to move towards restoring from a known good backup.

I just suspect that Windows 7 clients cannot pass the Scansafe because of some reasons. How does it work if you disable it? You can try more things. Windows Live OneCare Online Scan is a choice. What's new - Windows Live OneCare safety scanner for Windows Vista and Windows 7 Also you can install MSE and scan the computer. If Windows Live OneCare Online Scan and MSE do not think that the file is infected, you may consider upgrading your AVG.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
