windows xp to 7 networking issues.
I've got a windows xp hope desktop and a windows 7 home laptop. I often use internet sharing via connecting the laptop to the pc with an ad-hoc wierless connection then the pc connected to my modem. the issue is that no matter what I do, I can see the windows 7 machine in the network connections folder as shared, but I can't see the xp machine in the network tab of the windows 7 machine.

Hi LockeColee, Thanks for the post! How about using the wired connection? Can you ping the Windows XP on your Windows 7 laptop? Have you tried the troubleshooter? In addition, open your Network and Sharing Center – Advanced sharing settings. Sometime there could be an encryption problems. Under the File sharing connections. Check the “Enable file sharing for devices that use 40 –or 56-bit encryption”, then check if the issue persists.
