If you have installed Google Desktop, then search for a file called iconcache.db. This file is usually hidden and you have to unhide from Explorer > TOOLS > FOLDER OPTION > VIEW TAB > Select / bullet Show Hidden Files and FoldersDelete the file as follows: Right-click on iconcache.db. While in Contect-menu, PRESS SHIFT and DELETE. Close Explorer, Shutdown, Restart computer. See detailed answer here:http://www.windowsreference.com/windows-vista/how-to-purge-rebuild-the-icon-cache-in-vista/If you have penchant for malwares, I have no problem. But they kinda interfere and slow down the computer quite a bit.You can download Defraggler and defrag the hard drive (may take > 6 hr if HD is quite big).Defraggler: http://download.piriform.com/dfsetup121.exeTo speed up boot, control you startup programs with Autoruns:Autoruns: http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/Autoruns.zipand if you are computer knowledgeable, use bootvis to pre-allocate program startups (leave default as it is)Bootvis: http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=664
