windows xp control panel not working
When I click on the Control Panel in my start up box there is a pause of varying lengths in which I cannot do anything and then I get an error message saying there is a error and Internet Explorer has to shut down. I have both sent and not sent this error and once clear I can use computer again. I don't have any trouble using just internet explorer by itself though it is not my primary browser.1 person needs an answerI do too

Check if you have a damaged item in Control Panel. To determine what it is, create a folder, say, TempCPL on the Desktop. Now, using Windows Explorer, navigate to \Windows\System32 and display the files as Details. Click View > Arrange by Type and look for files with .cpl as the extension. You may have to Show Extensions in Folder Options > View Tab to see them.Check from their Properties if they are Microsoft or third-party items. Move the third-party files one by one to the new folder and open Control Panel after each move to see if the problem has gone. After detecting the culprit, leave it in the TempCPL folder and move back the other .cpl files. If the problem is not a third-party file, repeat the procedure for the Windows .cpl files. There are copies of the Windows files in C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386.
