windows xp computer shutting down
I have a XP desktop (HP) and it has just started within the past week shutting itself down and rebooting. It can happen any time but seems to also happen pretty consistently in the late afternoon. Sometimes as few times a day. I have done Virus checks (real careful about that) and Spam checks, checked Registry, and did clean-up. Nothing seems to show any problems that could be causing this. Any help? PLEASE!lmsoriginals1 person needs an answerI do too

Hmmmm.....interesting. Do you think it could have anything to do with a faulty power supply? I'm just trying to think outside of the box on the hardware side. And you say the Virus scan turned up nothing?

The CPU could be overheating. Are the computer's fans working? Can you feel air coming out of the case? Download and run a memory testing program. See Top 5 Free Memory Testing Software Tools at About.com:PC Support for details.
