windows vista home premium windows update missing
Could some one please help?
I have a Hp Pavillion with Windows vista home premium 32 bit,
I uninstalled the norton systemworks that came with the pc as it really slowed the pc down.
Now in security center the windows update button is red and when you go to turn on autoupdates it will not allow you to ,
suggests scheduling manual updates try to do this and get following message
12ec2020-3ae-1069-a2dd-08002b303009d cannot pagesettings
Also when you look in the main menu for window updates the icon next to it is blank little box.
is there away of getting auto updates back or just setting up for manual updates?
Thanks
Jane

Your WU apprears to have been corrupted or it could be a script problem.
Not sure if it will help, but you could try:
Try to re-register the following dll files in System32 folder. If you don't find the files, then try to extract then from your Vista setup DVD and copy them to System32 folder first.
vbscript.dll jscript.dll mshtml.dll
To register a dll :Click Start > Run >Type regsvr32 <path & filename of dll>
If it doesnt help, see if something here helps you.
