windows update problems with windows 7
i am having a problem installing updates for windows 7 home premium. my system is a 32 bit based system. the updates are for office outllook with security code: kb2288953 kb2288621 kb2291599 At first when the system installed the updates it did not have a problem, the updates went through without a problem. The system then ask me to shut down and not turn it off, because it will turn off itself. When i start up, it went though the normal cycle without a problem. A little while after i finished working, and was about to sut down again, i noticed a small icon next to the shut down button, notifying me that the updates were were not installed. i went to windows update, in "all programs" section, to see if there was any updates that was missing. It turns out that, it was the same updates that was suppose to be installed during the shut down procedure. i tried installing it again, with the same result as above. Then i tried instaling them , one by one, to see if it was just one or two of these updaes that was causing the problem or the whole batch. it did not work , the same result. I tried going to the office 2007 websites since these updates were based on the outlook. It turn out that there was no updates for the office edition i was running. i am running office 2007 enterprise edition. Is there a soluion to this?

Hi Marvin, You can try installing the updates from Microsoft Download Center manually and see if they can be installed successfully. If the issue persists, please try the suggestions in this knowledge base (KB) article to troubleshoot the issue: How to troubleshoot failures updating your Office installation from the Office Update Web site If the issue still exists, you can post a thread on Microsoft Office Forum directly for assistance. Windows keeps telling me there is an "important" update to download, but it is for Microsoft live essentials 2011 and I dont want to download it. How do I get rid of the update so my computer doesnt keep telling me I have an update to download? It wont go away and it is annoying.

I spent a lot of time trying to get the updates to Windows 7 installed, and they only worked after I installed the hotfix "KB947821" from Microsoft -- and therefter all updates installed successfully. In summary, the only thing that seemed to work when updates could not be installed was to install this hotfix.VB.NET Programmer
