windows update does not install ...
Hi, windows (update) does not install Spyware removal (KB890830) every month, silverlight updates and some updates of other applications like the last dropbox update. I download these updates from the site, drag them to the temp folder and install from there. That works. Other (Windows) updates do install fine. But it is a monthly annoying thing so if anyone can help ... that would be great. Thanks Stekel

Hello, proceed like that: Disable all security softwares Run chkdsk /r /g and sfc /scannow Download and install System Update Readiness tool for Windows 7 Reset Windows update Components Once done, check again. If this does not help, perform a repair install of your OS. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights. In the thread http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_update/kb2478663-and-kb2518870-june-security-updates-for/1679eee5-68cf-4898-9441-b34a06dd152c RedBand wrote Check the Event Log to see if they are indeed installed, what Windows update shows is not always the same thing as was installed. On Vista I can check the Application Log and filter on: Level: Information Source: MsiInstaller EventID: 1022 That should show all successful installation/updates. If your updates are found in there then it's safe to hide them in Windows Update. Because I found the information above in the Event Log I hide these updates in “Windows Update” by clicking with the right button and hide... Erhy
