windows firewall keeps shutting off
so this started about a week ago. Everytime i turn on my computer it says my firewall is off. I deleted an antispyware program thinking it may be that ( i have been running this program for years with no problems) but it is still doing it so i have to manually turn it on. I am not sure what that WLOC thing is that i have read in other postings, so i am not even sure if i have that. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. Let's try to turn on Windows Firewall through the following methods, please perform method one by one till the issue is resolved. 1. Manually turn on Windows Firewall in Control Panel. 1) Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Security, and then clicking Windows Firewall. 2) Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 3) Click On (recommended), and then click OK. 2. Check Windows Firewall related services, make sure the following services are started. 1) Type Services in the Start box, and hit Enter. 2) Find Services as follows, click start to start the service that is stopped, and click stop then click start to restart the service that is started. Base Filtering Engine Remote Procedure Call (RPC) DCOM Server Process Launcher References: How to Disable or Enable Vista Services http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/59910-services.html 3. Restore security settings to the default settings. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313222 4. Install the security bulletin MS07-038. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935807 5. Perform a System Restore to the previous available point when Windows Firewall works fine. 1) Please click on Start and choose All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then Windows Backup. 2) Click Restore on the left pane. 3) Choose Basic Restore. 4) Follow the wizard and click Next. 5) If you would like to restore everything in the backup, we can check the box Restore everything in this backup on the top of the window. 6) We can also browse and choose certain files and folders to restore. Then, click Next. 7) Then choose the folder to save the recovered files and click Next. 8) When we see a Restore is complete! message, click Finish. Hope this helps. Thanks.
