I had one virus located in an old epson printer file and also when I downloaded the full service live.com scanner, I had 874 invalid registry errors. After I cleaned up all that, it seemed to help somewhat. i think my trend micro is just using so much resources and all that it tends to slow it down, especially when updating. I may need to do the hijackthis thing and forward it to someone that is knowledgeble to assist me as to what could be the problem... thanks Dinesh for your help!
