windows download validation
I purchased a laptop with Windows Vista and I liked the Windows XP on my desktop better so I used the desktop CDs and downloaded them to my laptop. Ever since I did that my desktop unit says that I am using a pirated copy of Windows. Can I not use the CDs for my personal desktop. I use it only for personal use.1 person needs an answerI do too

No, you cannot use the XP installation CD that goes with your Desktop. One license per computer, as it has always been. You need to purchase a new copy of XP for your laptop if you want it. I believe Amazon and NewEgg still sell it. Don't forget to make sure there are XP drivers/utilities on the laptop mftr.'s website because you will need to install them afterwards.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
