windows doesn't show IDE hard disk
I have 2 Samsung 500gb SATA HDD and a SATA DVDRW(asus) and a 80gb Maxtor HDD, 3gb ddr2 ram, 2.93ghz core2duo, I use windows 7 pro. My BIOS detects everything fine, however windows cannot detect my IDE HDD, it doesn't show in explorer, disk management, or device manager, however when i scan for hardware changes in device management the HDD does show up, and goes away again after I reboot or i turn off my PC, for now I am using devcon and assigned a command to check for hardware changes, and made into a .bat file, and have it run automatically at system startup, but devcon pops out a UAC message everytime. So how do I get windows to detect my HDD like normal, or at least disable UAC for devcon only(and not other applications).

What is the model of your motherboard? When the HDD shows up, in Device Manager please right-click on the entry and choose Uninstall. Then restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved. If the issue persists, please download the latest Windows 7 compatible IDE controller driver from the motherboard manufacturer’s website.Arthur Xie - MSFT
