windows 8 volume control stuck on screen left top corner
Hi,
I have Dell Latitude e6410 recently I upgrade my win7 to win8
now I am facing the issue windows 8 volume control stuck on screen left top corner. and I have no idea how it appear but it can appear when I press laptop volume control once it appear on the screen then I cannot open any other thing so what I do to fix this issue temporarily by pressing the power button to turn my machine in sleep mode after that I wake up the machine then restart the machine from win8 logon screen after that it work fine but it happen again

any one now how can I fix this problem.

can you click on it to select  it and press ESC?

I have the exact same issue here.. It occurs when my headset is plugged in, this volume bar control just wont disappear :(

Did you install any software recently? I suggest testing the issue in clean boot.

Clean boot

1. Press Win+R to call Run box. Type msconfig and click OK to start the System Configuration utility.
2. On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. 
3. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
4. Click OK, and then click Restart.

I have the same issue with my IdeaCentre 540, I refreshed my system but still see it!

I have the same issue on many different varieties on computers.  This needs to be fixed how about it? I have the issue on a asus sabertooth systemboard, on hp desktops and laptops, and on dell.  SOMETHING IS BROKEN HERE CAN WE PLEASE FIX THIS? I would bet you not hearing a lot about this because its a bitch to search for this criteria.

There Must be a registry fix to turn this thing off.  Can someone from Microsoft please enlighten me.  Its difficult to do work with this on top of everything you open...

having the same issue here...

I have had the same issues. I believe the volume bar is a conflict between hardware sound controls and windows 8 audio drivers. Previously I found the only way to disable the bar was to disable all sound. There was no program or service specific to the bar, disabling all sounds service gets rid of it, but who wants a mute computer? The best solution I have come up with so far is to update sound drivers. For me I went to the Lenovo website because I have a Lenovo 540b all in one touch screen, and I downloaded Realtek high definition audio drivers for windows 8 64 bit. After install I had sound and voila, the bar disappeared. It did come back again a few days later after testing the touch controls for sound. I reinstalled the driver and will simply stay away from any built in sound control, and control the volume through desktop controls. I have spent countless hours with this problem, and I know there is very little information available on the web. Hopefully it will be brought to Microsoft's attention soon. I hope this helps all of you. I know how frustrating this is because it also completely messed up all touch function. If I come across a better fix I will post. But for now I recommend going to your pc manufacturer's website and downloading the appropriate audio driver updates. A refresh or clean windows install will not help. I tried both. I also tried disabling all services not necessary with a selective startup through msconfig as previously mentioned. None were successful. It is definitely a hardware and windows driver incompatibility.

I am also having the exact same issue on the Lenovo 540b.  Nothing I have tried seems to work for long.  Microsoft how about some help here!!

I too am having the same issue. My audio drivers are up to date. The volume also is automatically increased to 100 percent every time I attempt to adjust it.

I too am having the same problem. just upgraded a Toshiba laptop, and when I use my touchpad mouse, the volume control also appears on the screen and continually adjusts itself. I have tried everything to fix the problem, I changed audio drivers, and have tried all work arounds. The only thing that worked is disabling the sound, and just re-enabling when I absolutely need it. There doesn't seem to be a fix online anywhere. The problem exists with all the drivers I have tried. I have asked a few local techs, but no one has a clue. Hopefully Microsoft will come up with a fix. I called Toshiba and they are useless. There is definitely some sort of hardware conflict with Windows 8, so hopefully someone will figure out a solution.

Installed Windows 8 64 Bit on 02-Dec-12 and had no problems with W8 Volume
Control - it worked properly with my old Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro which
has audio volume controls BUT yesterday I installed the TUNE-IN Radio App from
the Windows App store and the problem with the "Windows 8 Volume control
stuck on screen left top corner" started. NOTE: this maybe a coincidence
because I have the same App running on my laptop without the problem (but the laptop is runnning W8 32
bit) - we will see!?!

[My keyboard audio controls could still increase the volume but rather than
staying at the volume selected the volume decrease slowly to zero after key was
released - NOTE this had no bearing on the actual audio volume which stayed at
the level set by the bottom right volume control]

I tried uninstalling the TUNE-IN Radio App - this made no difference.

What did work was downloading the latest (but in fact 01-Apr-2010) Realtek
audio drivers - these were meant for W7 64 bit for my Gigabyte X58A-UD3R V1
Motherboard - the W8 Volume Control has disappeared except when the audio
control keys on my keyboard are used - and they now work correctly again. 
As far as I can tell so far all my audio devices are working corr

One thing that seems to be working for me is that I installed a USB mouse, and so far the volume key is staying put. I am beginning to think that the problem is related to the touchpad conflicting somehow. I am going to try a different touchpad driver to see if this fixes the problem, if not I am just going to use the  usb mouse

I just got that stuck on screen volume control.

I recently got a cheap 4 port non powered USB hub and a bluetooth headset with mic. I have a Logitech QuickCall speakerphone connected to that hub as well as a charging cable to the new bluetooth headset. I got that control stuck on screen when I plugged in the headset to charge it. At the same time the system suddenly lost the speakerphone and replaced it with some generic device driver. I unplugged the hub from the laptop and plugged it back in. The volume control disappeared and the speakerphone is back visible by the system. Looks like something with the change in power draw by the headset confused the hub and the computer. I don't know the charging requirement of the headset. I suspect it's around 150mA since my other headset came with an actual AC adapter with such spec instead of just the USB cable.

So far I've been able to get it to stop bothering me after unplugging the mouse. I can plug it in again and everything is normal without the volume control. It might be some glitch in the default Windows 8 mouse/keyboard driver making Windows think the scroll wheel sends adjust volume key codes.

I resolved this problem unplugging my USB sound box. I had headphone, plugged in my sound card, and sound box plugged simultaneously. After unplugged sound box the bothering slide disappeared. I use just my headphone the most part of time anyway.

I searched these post over and over,

Ignore everything you have read, solution use your manufactures driver cd that came with your computer to reload original drivers,

As soon as realtek audio was installed all problems went away.

Going to the manufactures site and downloading drivers didn't correct this

I too had the same problem. It was related to my USB headset (Logitech). I could make it go away by unplugging the headset and it would return when the head set was plugged in. Further investigation revealed that the volume control built into the headset cable was lying on the desk with an object keeping it pressed. Once released all was good.

This was really starting to bug me but when I saw your post I checked and realised that my Logitech usb headset was plugged in and the volume control was trapped in my filing cabinet drawer!
