Hi ntaaid,

Do you mean that you cannot install updates and print anything in Windows 8.1?

And I assume that you use dism to install the update package, right?

If so, could you tell us the specific update name? so that we can do more research on it. Also, the windowsupdate.log in C:\Windows folder.

In the meantime, you can reset the Windows update components:

For the printing issue, error message or any related information in event viewer would be helpful to find the root cause.

But restart the print spooler service would be a good start.

We have the same issue - we have been dealing with a computer that won't complete updates - it gets so far and then reverts and says it can't make the changes.  During this time, our printer wouldn't print things from that computer.  Initially we thought it was the printer dying - so we got a new printer two weeks ago, yet the problem still exisits.

Running Windows 8 - blue screens 2 - 3 times a day says it can't make changes and wont print!  PLEASE HELP!
