windows 7 won't start due to black screen before login
I need major help on this one. About a week ago, my computer got some sort of virus, a google redirect virus, I believe. It bounced me everywhere. I downloaded many different antimalware and virus removal programs and thought I deleted the virus, but I was still being redirected. I also got error messages when starting the computer, stating there where missing dll files here and there. Today, I turned my computer and it said that startup repair needed to be launched since there is a file missing. I did that, but the repair was not working. I could not start my computer. Then I put in my Windows 7 installation disk and launched Startup Repair through that and everything seemed to be working, but right after the "Starting Windows" sign, the screen goes blank. There's no cursor and I cannot do anything except hold the power button and turn off the computer. I cannot login either. I've googled it a lot, but to no avail... One site mentioned video drivers, which are all up to date, as I checked in safe mode. Can anybody help me out? I am not too computer savvy and any help is appreciated.

Refer to clean solution: 1. Backup you data 2. Restore full backup if you have any. Otherwise install vanilla plain Windows 3. Use single relilable AV program and update frequently. Regards Milos

Hi, Please check if there is any restore point so that you can perform a system restore. In addition, you can perform a Startup Repair again to check the result. If the issue persists, I would like to suggest you perform a Device Clean Boot to narrow down the cause since it works in Safe Mode. Device Clean Boot ============== Please unplug all unnecessary devices to test the issue. In this situation, your system will only have the basic hardware devices and it should be more stable. If it is inconvenient to unplug the devices, we can disable them in Device Manager. Please refer to the following steps: 1. Click "Start", type "DEVMGMT.MSC" in the Search textbox and press Enter. Please click Allow if the User Account Control window is prompted. 2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers". 3. Right click on your Sound Card, select "Properties" 4. Click "Driver" tab, click Disable (Disable the selected device). Click OK. 5. Please use the same method to disable other hardware such as: Modem, network card, CD-R drive. Please note some devices such as video adapter are not available to be disabled. Then, restart your computer to check the result. Hope this helps Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support
