I suggest you temporary disable antivirus and check the result. If the issue still occurs, you may need to restore the system to a previous version. If System Restore cannot repair the system, I suggest you launch your Windows 7 installation program and do In-place Upgrade to repair the system. Your personal data and programs will not be removed. However I still suggest you back up important data before In-place Upgrade.Arthur Xie - MSFT

I have the same issue, upgraded from vista to 7, the computer hangs at "shutting down" screen, and has the same issues with iTunes and other programs, including Windows Update and Disk defragmenter, but yet programs like IE and Disk cleanup work. Also if the laptop goes into sleep or hibernate mode, it will not wake up. I have attempted the fixes suggested above (disabled, then actually removed AVG antivirus), and the in place upgrade tells me my key cannot be used, as it is a Win7 Pro key, this is the same key I installed this OS with. I initially did this as a download from the MS store and I do not have the CD or ISO to re-install any other way. Is there a way to get a CD so I can format and start clean?
