i dont know why but with any version of win7 over 7000 (which is what i am on now) stops me using the net even the RC when i installed the rc (7100) i would get 15-20 mins net then it would stop receving it yet it still said it was conected and could see everyother wireless connection i tryed disable and enebleing the internal adapter but whenever i click disable the window would just not respond so i couldnt do that the only way i found to fix it is to restart my laptop yet within 15-20 mins again it would drop the connection and i havn't found a way to fix it anyone else had the same problem or how to fix it?

I have the exact same problem. It is like that for me with my wireless card (Linksys WMP300N) and my ethernet card, so I know it's not just a wireless issue. Another laptop running Vista is able to stay connected to internet at the time when my desktop running Windows 7 RC drops it. The only way I can access the internet again is by restarting the computer or waiting ten minutes. I am using Kaspersky Internet Security. I have seen that every time the connection has dropped, uTorrent was running in the background. I kept uTorrent closed, and the connection has not lost internet access. Shortly after opening uTorrent, I lost internet access. Another site had recommendations to keep the Upload rate on uTorrent down below a certain rate (currently at 50kbs). I set uTorrent to that, and so far I have not had any other drops in internet. I will continually monitor this in case the internet connection is lost again, and then repost to this thread.

it could have somethin to do with kaspersky since i have it to and we both have the same problem and i dont have Utorrent till its been confirmed that the net is workin for everyone im stayin on 7000 :P im guessing that microsoft changed stuff since 7000 and the version after that because every version since 7000 is bein gay with my net :/

I've noticed the same issue about utorrent, i've tryed to use the computer for an entire day, no problem showed up. Then i've started utorrent, and the conection died. I've tryed to change the client, so i've installed bittorrent, an also bitcomet. And the wifi continues to shut down. I'm pretty sure that the problem si something about the maximun number of connections that windows 7 could manage. Like xp, that has a limited amount.

I am having a similar problem i am not running Kapersky. I have a WUSB300N Linksys card, however I have lost internet connection completely. I play WoW and this is all i have installed on the system. Windows 7 runs fine except it will no longer connect to my router. I have it setup to dual boot with xp and xp has no problems connecting on the same setup.

I have similar problem, my laptop have dual boot, XP and win7, but Win7 can't connect to wireless router with close signal ( security WPA) , when I reset wireless router leave open signal ( no security WPA), win7 connected to wireless router OK. But I don't want leave wireless router with open signal. It 's not safe

I had the same problem. I've downloaded the last firmware of my dlink dir-655 routeron the dlink website. Uninstal Network Magic. Nowthe connection never drop.

Please run Windows Update and confirm that you are running the latest updates for your wireless network adapters. There is a bug in inbox drivers for some devices which is now fixed in the drivers available on Windows Update. Please make sure you are checking Windows Update for latest drivers! Im not using any torrents on this machine but still have this same problem on anything that uses a constant D/L or U/L like online games and video streams. Im using a Netgear wn311b and when that locks up i plug in an Airlink 54g usb i had lying around and get another 20 min.

I am running Windows 7 ver 6.1.7100Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGNI do not run any peer programes such as torrents etc. Mainly I only run MMO game eve-online and for the pas few days I get a message saying "socket closed" I get dissconected every 5 minutes or so. I have tried giving full access to eve program but I also realized that even browsing the net I get timeouts from the browsers every now and then. All drivers are up to date

I also am having the same issue, this did not occur in the earlier beta of W7.my router is a DIR-655 Firmware 1.21EUWLan Card is Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-CardUpon first bootup the connection will work for a couple of hours before i notice Internet explorer sit waiting for a page to load, then i see the dreaded yellow exclamation mark, i can wait 2 minutes for it to reconnect or force a disconnect/reconnect. I have tried many different driver, the standard W7 ones a basic Broadcom one in W7, ones from Dell website. If i leave their utility running it still shows as having an IP address and picking up full signal from my router but i have no access to the internet or or my router. Just browsing the itnernet this is a small problem but if i'm playing a game of any kind over the internet, it's so frustrating!!! Upon the first disconnect the 2nd one will happen much faster, probably another hour, the next one even faster maybe even 30 minutes. Hi Everyone, I have the same issue, I am using a HP 6710B notebook which is dual booting Vista SP2 and Win 7 RC1 and am having the following issues: Win7 will not connect to the Enterprise WPA secured Wireless network which is using 802.1x Authentication and PEAP. I think there seems to be a problem with the Linksys WMP300N under Win7.The included Win& driver (and subsequent upgrade from Windows upgdate) have HUGE latency and this effects sound quality (causes crackling). This was a Vista problem, and was solved by using the 4.102.15.61 (November 2006) driver.With the 'Old' driver under Win7, latency down to Vista levels, and have yet to arbritarily disconnect.One hint: Under the drivers Advanced tab, set 'Minimum Power Consumption' to disabled.Linksys needs to release a new low-latency driver that is correctly matched to Win7.Duckysan

Sorry - maybe got your hopes up. Network dropped after 4 hours when using Grabit Usenet client. It happened the last time too. Wonder if any similarity to the torrent problem....? Anyway, have tried static IP but no improvement. Observation: the network card becomes completely unresponsive. Cannot either change settings or disable once the network has dropped. Win7 will not close down after attempt to change/disable. Requires re-set. Strikes me there is an issue with the way the card is addrssed by Win7. NB: Currently dual-booting with Vista on separate HDD. No problem in Vista with identical settings. D

a temporary solution for meto the yellow exclamation mark is to disable the windows firewall, wether its the cause or part of the problem i don't know but looking through firewall log in event viewer i see the connection swap from private to public whenever i got limited access and yellow exclamation mark. Either way disabling the firewall has left me with a steady 3 hour connection so far whereas before it would only last 50 minutes to an hour

Update (fast & furious!): Disabling firewall did not work. Only re-boot seems to get it up and running again. Seems to be some connection to using Grabit for Usenet. Every time I try and download newsgroup content, the network drops. I have also captured screen-shots of latency monitor comparing Vista and Win7. Just purchased a compaq Presario 5210F. Installed a Netgear wireless NIC (WN311B), and attempt to connect to Netgear Range Max (WNR834Bv2).Windows recognizes the NIC as Broadcom 802.11n (driver5.30.21.0) , and indicates no issues. But, cannot connect to the router.

that's a bit harsh, Tebayoso. Could it be driver-related at all, because you say it works on Vista and not on 7? maybe it's the gods of copyright protection, trying to tell you that bittorrent is baaaaaad ;o) -- my 7 install occasionally drops wireless connections on certain networks only. could be interference or too many connections on the AP.
