Then about a week ago, I went to update it and got a "Cannot update" error message code 8004F807 I then noticed that in the bottom right hand corner of my desktop, I have a new tag: Windows 7 Evaluation copy. Build 7100 This copy of Windows is not genuine I haven't installed any new hardware or anything. Under Computers=>Properties Windows Activation Status: Not Available Product ID: Not Available Any help would be appreciated. pls help me Regards smm

Hi, you have installed an evaluation copy and not a retail version. This is limited to a certain runtime (even with activation), after that it will not longer be licensed and therefore non genuine. Build 7100 has been already expired btw, since it was a prerelease version. The way to remove the message is to purchase a retail version and install it either clean or as an update on top of the evaluation. In the later case you will need at least an identical edition of Windows 7 like the installed, for the Release Candidate it was Ultimate. Also you can only upgrade 32 Bit versions with 32 Bit and 64 Bit versions with 64 Bit, not across. See also this website, how to upgrade. Best greetings from Germany Olaf
