windows 7 print spooler restart
hi I have a wireless network with 1 main pc with windows 7. on it is a printer Lexmark X6170. the other computers in the network have vista. printing on the main windows 7 pc works after a lot of work. printing from the vista pc's over the network gives the printjob to the main pc where it stays in the printjobs. I tried everything I coukd think of. when I restart the print spooler the printjob is instantly executed. that is for the moment the only way to get the printjob done. on the windows 7 pc bidirectional communication has to be activated in order to be able to print there. on the vista pc's bidirectional communication is not available. is there a solution for this problem? grts

Hi, We may troubleshoot the problem by referring to this website: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-network-printer-problems# In addition, we may double check the following options under Control Panel of both system. Turn ON network discovery Turn ON file and printer sharing Turn ON sharing in the Public folder sharing section Turn ON password protected sharingKim Zhou TechNet Community Support

thanks for your reply. I worked on those points allready after reading ather posts. checked it again and found everything as you suggested. the problem seems to be on the main windows7 pc. print job is getting there but seems to get stuck there. also when I print directly from the windows7 pc, printing starts but the printjob is not deleted afterwards. turning off the X6170 printer and back on gets the printjob deleted. so there seems to be a problem with the print spooler I think. it apparently isn't responding correctly. any suggestions to look for? thanks

Hey wimdeman, Yes there is problem with printer spooler so please re installing the printer only will fix the issue , then go to run command type "devmgmt.msc" go the printer tree list expand and go to ur printer x6170 Double click on it >go to drivers tab > Unistall the drivers control panel>printers>delete the X6170 Printer Now install the printer again, and please go to printer manufacturer website download updated Drivers for your printer and install it so the new driver will enable Bi Directional Support and Printer spooler problm will not prompt again, this would be the fix ! Restart or logg off and Happy printing..! Thanks, Suren Face the fact tat we all have plenty to learn about this field. Deal wit the failures, use tem as motivation, learn something new everyday.
