windows 7 looses wireless conetions frequently
recently i frequently drop out of my wireless connection (and for sure whenever if i recover from sleep mode). I never had this before, (ais it a hotfix result??) As i have not installed anything recently and did run a virus scan, found nothing, as some sugested i removed IP-helper services and removed IP-6 but it doesnt help much.. The only cause i can think of is that i recently tried to connect to a friends wireless network, and now my own wireless config seams half corrupt (sometimes it works, as for example now) What also is strange, that the troubleshooting wizard cannot find anything, in the end it sugests to look at my wireless access point. However the wireless card isnt also able to detect other wireless nets here when i got these problems; .(there are about 8 networks here). When i have connection like now, i can see the other networks ..seams to me that something is wrong with windows 7 and not the wireless card.. Are there ways to mannualy reset the adapter (powershell) or reset the apdapter to windows factory defaults ? (but saving my config first). Also strange is that the wireless card often turns to disabled, overall its responce to actions is verry slow (for example try to enable it again, or disable ip-v6)

Most likely your wireless adapter was failed to active after waking up from sleep mode, so you can disable windows 7 from turning off your wireless adapter when it goes to sleep mode as shown here: Go to network card’s properties in Device Manager, go to Power Management tab and uncheck this feature and restart your computer: Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Hope this helps. dawoodode Home Network & Wireless Network Help

Also you can try to disable wireless adapter and enable it again to rest wireless adapter. Or reinstall wireless adapter driver, install the latest version driver of wireless card for test. If the issue persists, you may try to create another user account and login to check if the same issue occurs. Hope that helps. Regards, Leo Huang TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. Somehow it worked today (having not changed anything).. the only thing i can think of; windows 7 reset adapter (as seen in the wizards) doesnt reset the adapter. Better power down completely then restart windows... because in the morning the laptop batery was empty, and so it had no power i guess that caused a cold boot. The problem here might be that windows usualy does do a warm boot (restart while electric isnt realy powered off) it might be something between hardware and drivers that some hardware realy needs to powerdown (however its not sugested in the wizards). I had seen in it some other forums to that wireless adapters miraculous worked the next day.. So if you configured everyhing correctly try a cold boot. I dont think wirelesspoints remember connections (only dhcp ip lease info,.. but in my case i did not even get an IP so the wireless point wasnt aware of my system Some other tips if people get into this. Some wireless points have MAC filters active, you need to adjust them to connect to them. If your not sure what is the password, but have another PC on the wireless net note that it is possible on the settings of their connections to see the password
