windows 7 hard drive problem
my hard drive ,SAMSUNG HM160HI ATA DRIVE which shows up as a removable drive in safely remove hardware option in system tray. Is it normal or it is a problem with hard disk or settings? Plz help and thamks in advance!! I m running windows 7 32 bit on Hp Compaq Presario C772TU Notebook....

Hi,Check your diagram HDD settings (can obtain it from manufacturer site) and see if it's attached corectly.There's also an option in device manager "add legacy hardware" and add your device if you can see it if not and owndrivers availablecan add it manualy.Regards

Hi vishad7, Its normal for SATA drives to show up as removable drive because they are "hot-swappable". Regards, Linda

Is it connected with a convereter or adaptor? is it a SATA or PATA?

Is it connected with a convereter or adaptor? is it a SATA or PATA? I guess should be a PATA HDD speaking about a notebook Compaq.However should be detected asPrimary Master HDD and not removable storage.

My SATA drive ain't that way either. It shows as a HDD non-removable althoughI have itconfigurd as IDE in my BIOS. If it was running in SATA mode things might be a bitdifferent but that's not supported for my system. Maybe then it would appear as removable or he might have a storage controller compatability issue.
