This is just a shot in the dark, but freezes are often due to bad RAM. Luckily, Vista / Windows 7 have a built in diagnostic tool. Just go to Start and type in "memory". You should see an application pop-up for the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool. Good luck!

Ive gone through a few sticks of ram with 7, the first set crashed a bunch.Memtest and windows memory checker both found errors, but could not get errors to show up with just one stick of the 2x1gb ram to show errors so I sent both in.Got those back put them in the closed was using another brand, So a month or so later I pull them out for another system and it starts crashing.I pull out memtest and no errors, tried windows test no errors, Usually I'll run memtest for 24 hours to make sure. But this time I only did a few runs because I was thinking it was the Mother Board. But I had just recently got a different dos memory tester that kind of expensive so I threw it in there and errors popped up on the first test run.But with this test I was able to find the bad stick and just send one back, now the system is running nice and smooth.Problem is I don't trust Memtest as much for finding the bad stick, it may have found the error if I had let it run for 24 hours, but this other one got it in just a few min. So just because it will pass a memory test doesn't always mean its not bad. Hope mine was just a fluke I was really close to RMAing the MOBO.
