windows 7 does not shut down on my Dell N5010 Laptop
windows 7 does not shut down on my Dell N5010 Laptop for several days. I have to press the power button for shut down. Due to this i try a clean boot operation but the problem persists. But the laptop dose not show such problem of shut down When 1. Boot in safe mode 2. Diagonostic Start up using system configuration. But after returning to normal start up the prob come back again. Some says for a system restore, but it wd uninstell some program. I look forward to hearing form u for remedy. Regards Sanjoy

Instead of a restore you could try creating a new account (which in turn will give you a new profile) and if the new account works, maybe you could use that and get rid of the old one or copy your new profile over to use with your old account. Might be a quick fix rather than going through all the trouble-shooting.

Hi Sanjoy, Update the BIOS and graphic driver to the latest one, unplug extra devices then click shutdown to check if it works. If it doesn't work, test as DanStephens said, create a new user account, see if the new one could shutdown the computer.
