windows 7 critical updates
Microsoft critical updates cause driver certification to fail. Two computers fail. Mouse and keyboards inop. If I select disregard driver certification, keyboard and mouse work. I then have to do system restore to operate normally. any suggestions? I am running w7 ultimate on HP Pavilion DV4 and a Dell 3000

These drivers are from HP and Dell respectively. I am reverting to an earlier restore point and hiding Windows Defender update and monitoring all updates

When you uninstalled any previous Anti-Virus, did you also run the manufactures removal tool for that product? Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

Only antivirus is McAfee Plus on HP DV4. May have had something else on machine when purchased, don't remember. Remember, desktop, which is about 7 years old, at least, has same issue. It has had Norton as long as I can remember. Always use uninstall from control panel

HP's used to come with McAfee, IIRC - I can't remember either :) You need to uninstall McAfee, then run the removal tool for Norton from here (doesn't matter which version you pick) https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?lg=english&ct=united+states&docid=20080710133834EN&product=home&version=1&pvid=f-home then run the removal too for you McAfee product - it's not one I've come across before, but this should do it - http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507 then reboot twice, and you can reinstall McAfee again. See if that helps Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

Tried all suggested solutions and none worked. Finally, disabled the driver check, logged in and used a usb mouse to remove the the keyboard and touchpad on laptop. Deleted drivers from laptop. Rebooted normally. The drivers were automatically restored. On subsequent reboots no problem with the signed drivers. Thanks to all for your suggestions
