windows 7 computers for a network
OK .. I have 5 work stations all running windows 7 pro 64 bit, all new builds. the main computer is also windows 7 pro 64 bit, I have 3 hubs. 2 are connected to the work sations and one is for the printers . The main computer has 3 ethernet ports. I made a home network on the main, the other computers can see it and see the drives I want to share, but when I go to map the drive and folders is says permission denied. I have sharing turned on the main computer. Anyone have an answer. and yes I can see the home network on each of the computers but when I put in the password for the main computer it comes back and says network conflick. but can never fix it.. ?? thank you this is a clients site and of course they want to be running by Monday. Under network sharing center>advanced sharing settings> ensure password protected sharing option is turn off. Make sure there's isn't any third party firewall other than windows firewall itself. Alternatively ensure the homegroup password is the same for all workstation if after applying the above and it still doesn't work

Hi, Before going further, please let me know the following information. 1. How does you configure the IP for computers? Use automatic IP or set them manually? 2. Can other computers ping the main computer? 3. Do you use Homegroup feature? 4. Can the computers access the Internet? Please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Update the network adapt driver from manufacture's site. 2. If the router is used, reset it and let the computers load the IP automatically. 3. Disable security software on each computer and try the clean boot. 4. Adding the IP address with computer name into hosts file. a. Press Shift Key and right click Windows Explorer icon on the taskbar, choose Run as administrator. b. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, open hosts with notepad c. Add the IP address with its computer name, such as 192.168.1.1 PCa 192.168.1.2 PCb Note: On one computer, please add all other computers information.
