when did this error first occur, how long after you installed Windows 7. What other 3rd party programs did you install or run (like registry clean up tools). This behavior can occur if the file you are trying to open is not associated with the correct program or the registry entries for the program are missing or damaged. Method 1 Try to open computer management from control panel and check if it works. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Open Control Panel, click Administrative tools. 2. Click on Computer Management. Method 2 If it does not help, try to perform System Restore on the computer to restore back the previous settings. To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, type system restore in the Start Search box, and then click System Restore in the Programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue. 2. In the System Restore dialog box, click Choose a different restore point, and then click Next. 3. In the list of restore points, click a restore point that was created before you began to experience the issue, and then click Next. 4. Click Finish. Note: When you perform System Restore to restore the computer to previous state, programs and updates you installed are removed. hello i have find out a solution for this. The error that appear is a link error. It can be fix by modifying some registry values. 1.) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Manage\command 2.)On the right you can see a default string value.modify it to mmc %SystemRoot%\system32\compmgmt.msc If it is not working use this registry key download

arunstar008 is certainly on the right track. However a critical part of his solution got corrupted. Here's the full solution. 1. Run regedit and drill down to: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Manage\command 2. On the right, higlight the key name "Default" and click "Modify" 3. (Here's the correction to arun's solution) Paste the following (including spaces and quotes) into the key value box: "%SystemRoot%\System32\mmc.exe" "%SystemRoot%\system32\compmgmt.msc" /s 4. Close regedit. You're done. Now a right-click on "Computer" and clicking "Manage" works like it's supposed to! (Of course you could get there by a couple of other techniques but this is much easier to remember.)

I think it is when you turn off UAC you get this problem. Perhaps Microsoft has forgotten to change this regvalue when UAC is turned off?
