windows 7 cannot share wireless internet connection with wired lan
I am trying to share a my wireless internet connection with my game systems over a wired lan. The game systems are connected to a ethernet switch, which is connected to my computer's ethernet port. My computer connects to the internet through a wireless adapter. I would like my game systems to be able to connect to the internet through my computer's wireless connection. I was able to do this with windows xp by setting up a local area connection and simply choosing the option "this computer connects directly to the internet, other computers connect to the internet through this computer." The rest of the wizard would handle it. I cannot find an equivalent option in windows 7. Windows 7 can currently see the wired lan as an unidentified network with no internet connection. I have checked the option for sharing in the sharing tab for this network. As for the wireless network, it lacks a sharing tab. I believe this to be on window's end and not the game systems as I have not changed the setting for the systems.

To enable ICS, I suggest you refer the following website. Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) If the NIC of the wireless adapter does not have any share option, this issue should be caused by the network adapter driver. I suggest you install the latest Windows 7 compatible network adapter driver and then check the result again.Arthur Xie - MSFT

If the NIC of the wireless adapter does not have any “share” option, this issue should be caused by the network adapter driver. I suggest you install the latest Windows 7 compatible network adapter driver and then check the result again. I have the same issue with ICS. I have also found at least 5 others that have The same issue. I do have the latest drivers installed for both Lan card and wireless card. More detail. Win I turn on ICS on the wireless adapter the Lan card dose not pick up an IP address or gateway. The component on the other end of the Lan card (in this case and IP phone) does not get and IP address or gateway. The Remote device is set to use DHCP and when connect directly to the Router will pick up IP and gateway. The Lan card Dose Not pick and IP or Gateway as well. ICS dose note crate IP address or our start DHCP Service for device on the Lan Card. I have tried setting up ICS on the network card, Static IP for all devices with ICS on. Cross over cables, striate though Cables. I have Tried all combination of ICS set up. With Fire wall off and on. I have put in about 10 hours on this issue and I am stumped. The ICS Dose work in Windows XP with service pack 3 but not in windows 7?
