windows 7 backup disk
I I got windows 7 preloaded on my laptop when I purchased it. My action center was telling me to back it up. I didn't. The message expired. I still want to back it up in the event of my system crashing. Can I do it on
a memory stick and how do I go about it. Please advise.

Open "Help and Support." Enter "System Image" in the search box followed
by the Enter key or a click on the search logo. Select Item 2, "Back up
your programs, system settings, and files." Carefully read and follow
the directions.

Generally, no for a complete PC backup(system image). The memory sticks aren't large enough. But, a 32gb may be large enough depending on the backup size. That won't leave you space for another image later in time. You would then lose the original image.
You will also have the same issue when you perform a data backup and then run that periodically.
An external hard drive would be the best option.

While I agree that an external hard drive is the best way to go (that's
what I have), I tried creating a system image on a memory stick just to
see if I could. I managed to fit my admittedly spare system partition on
a 8 GB stick. My hard drive image is 15.7 GB.
A memory stick backup is treated like a DVD backup, with compression and
multiple volumes, if needed. A DVD image I did yesterday is about the
same size,
over two disks.

Betterbreeze,
The answer is yes, Have a couple of them available depending on the size.
