windows 7 - no taskbar, icons, desktop on start up
i put windows 7 on my HP510 laptop over the summer, it needed an OS anyways. it has a 60GB hard drive, 2GB ram. recently as i start up my computer, after i log on, all i see is a black screen with windows 7 Evaluation copy build 7100 at the bottom right where it usually is. i can hit ctrl alt and delete and select task mgr and try to start the services and it say access is denied. i can hit new task and open up internet explorer. THIS PROBLEM ONLY HAPPENS ABOUT HALF OF THE TIME. i usually have to restart my computer about 5 times before i see any taskbar, icons, or background. it automatically downloads all updates and it is genuine from the microsoft website. Help?

How about if you log in using Safe Mode, do those show up?Also, can you create another administrator account and log in normally using that account? This is to see if there's a problem with the profile, which a new user won't have.

Hi Jeff, When did the issue first occur? If the issue does not occur in Safe Mode (Restart computer, press the F8 key when the boot menu pops up, select [Safe Mode], and boot up), you can perform System Restore to restore the system to the date before the issue occurred. Also, create a new user account to see if the issue occurs. Besides, add explorer.exe process to see if the issue can be resolved. For your reference, I have included the steps below: 1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc on the keyboard to launch Task Manager. 2. Click File menu and click "New Tasks (Run...)" 3. In the Open box, type "explorer.exe" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter. Regards, Linda
