windows 7 - internet zone webpages loading as local intranet
Hello to all.Im having a strange behavior in some computers in my network. All of them Windows 7 Entreprise. The thing is when I open Internet Explorer 8 the homepage loads ok but I cant browse anything else in the internet. If my homepage is msn.com it loads ok, but if I go to another one it tries to load but the screen is blank. In the status bar it says DONE.I noticed that in the right side of the status bar, it appears Internet|Protected Mode ON. If I turn Off the Protected mode then the internet pages loads ok; I can browse the internet without any problem. But now comes part 2;The internet pages are loading as local intranet. I went to Control Panel>>INternet Options > Security >> Local Intranet > Sites and unchecked the automatically detect intranet network and now everything appears to be ok.But this is happening to a lot of computers in my network. I have to go one by one to fix this. Any ideas why this is happening? How can I fix it? I have a Win 2008 DC.Thanks in advance.

Please temporary disable the antivirus and firewall and then check the result. If it does not work, I suggest you remove all third party toolbars from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features. If the issue persists, please reset IE settings and see if it can resolve the issue. 1. Click Start, please type “inetcpl.cpl” (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter to open the Internet options window.2. Switch to the Advanced tab.3. Click the "Reset Internet Explorer Settings" button.4. Click Reset to confirm the operation.5. Click Close when the resetting process has finished.6. Uncheck the "Enable third-party browser extensions" option in the Settings box.7. Click Apply, click OK. If the issue still occurs, I suggest you try No Add-ons Mode. Click the Start Button, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). If the issue does not reoccur, it may be caused by an IE Add-on. In that case, let’s continue to perform the following steps to narrow down the cause. Check Internet Explorer Add-Ons=========================1. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options. 2. Click the "Programs" tab, and then click Manage Add-ons. 3. Select an add-on in the Name list, and then click Disable. 4. Restart IE with Add-ons and check the issue again. If the issue is resolved, the disabled Add-on was the cause of the issue. If the issue reoccurs, continue to disable the next Add-on using the same method. By doing so, we could determine which Add-on contributed to the issue. If the above suggestions do not work, please export HiJackThis log and copy the contents of the log into your next post. HijackThis Please Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. Right-click the zip file, choose "Extract All", select the path to save the file (you may leave it as the default value), and then you will receive the extracted file.4. Double click the extracted file to run HiJackThis. (Note: If there is a notification message, please click OK.) 5. In the HijackThis window, click "Do a system scan and save a log file". (Note: If there is a notification message, please click OK.) 6. HijackThis will scan the system and generate a log file in Notepad. 7. On the log file menu, please click File and choose Save As. Please save the file to the Desktop. 8. Open the log and copy the contents into your post.Arthur Xie - MSFT

I suggest you temporary remove ESET NOD32 Antivirus and then check the result. If the issue still occurs, I suggest you boot in Clean Boot Mode to troubleshoot. Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program Arthur Xie - MSFT

My suggestion. Download and install AnVir Task Manager It also has free version. AnVir shows you all startup programs and Windows processes, so you’ll find harmful file within one minute. IMHO it’s the best such tool among other similar tools. Sorry for the offtopic.
