window size when oened
Hasn't Microsoft found a way to remember the "stretched" size of a(recently) opened window? Or is there a way to open a window to eith full size or my requested size. I hate scrolling down (that small) window just to find the folder/partition when searching for something.

Most of the window sizes can be maintained by opening the window, stretch it to the required size/position and immediately close it. Unfortunately this doesnt work very well with drop down menus/windows.

Hi EQ2000This might depend on how you are opening the window? If it is from a link, such as Windows Explorer or Computer, then the window should maintain the same size as when it was last opened. If it is froma standard shortcut, you can select the size in the Rundrop down menuof the shortcuts properties. If this is a browse dialog window that you see when selecting an option such as Save As or Open in a programs menu, then it depends on the program that you are using. I use Excel & Winword a lot. With these programs I have a need to get info from one file and to "paste" it into another. Why can't these programs remember the last window-size used so I don't have to scroll down to the place I'm seeking ? I also use EUDORA as my e-mail program for friends & relatives (and Incredimail for business). Here too when I search for names in my address book I have to keep scrolling instead of just opening new windows each time and again stretchingthem to avoid scrolling.I previously posted a thread about Movie Maker. Here too I have to keep stretching the windows when searching for new files to import..... and even RUN > BROWSE doesn't remember the size of the last window opened. Is there no way to "tell" Windows 7 to open ALL windows to a chosen size them remembering them each time ?????

Hi EQ2000Unfortunately not all applications follow the same protocols. It all depends on their design.MS Office appications are all based on their own, proprietary templates. Many others simply follow their own proprietary settings. However, in Windows 7 you can use the Windows Snap feature to quickly anchor 2 windows to each side of the screen to copy/paste between the applications. You can also simply press WINKEY+Right arrow key and WINKEY+Left arrow key. Or Right click the Taskbar and select Show Windows Side by Side. Any of theseactons willresize and placeeach of the 2 winows on half of the screen. This will work on any application.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Beta Ronnie Vernon MVP
