You can check if your account is admin by going to control panel, user accounts, if you are not you can change it there. I always password protect that account. Once you are admin you should be able to turn off the firewall.

Is this a clean install of W7 and what steps are you taking to get to the error message? Also is the Windows firewall the only firewall installed on your system?

Hi Jyothiv, Thank you for posting. Based on my known, the issue mostly caused by some third party software modified computer security rules if the computer is not in a domain. Could you please check the following settings in Group Policy? 1.Click Start, type GPEDIT.MSC in start search bar, press Enter. 2.Please navigate to the following location: Local Computer Policy > Windows Firewall with Advanced Security > Windows Firewall Properties link. 3.On Private Profile tab, please click Customize button under Settings. Please reset every setting as Not Configured. (Please note: we made these changes just for troubleshooting, please restore to legacy settings if any unexpected issue happen)4.Please refer to step 3 to change settings on Public Profile. 5.Then, restart the computer to test the problem. Hope it helps.
