win 7 networking
I have a network with a hub and a us robotics 8000a router. They connect 2 win xp macines and I'm trying get a win 7 machine seen on the network. I can surf the net with the win 7 machine, but i can't see any of the xp machines. I have looked through the networking area of win 7, but can't find the place to name the workgroup. I looked at the example provided by microsoft, but it doesn't look like what I see on my win 7 machine Any suggestions?.

pyezon -Check to see if your Windows 7 system is in a HomeGroup. If it is, take it out of the HomeGroup.By default, Windows 7 is set up in a HomeGroup networking environment. HomeGroup is basically an exlusive network environment for Windows 7 Operating Systems. Aside from having all the systems in the same workgroup, Windows 7 needs to be taken out of the HomeGroup for other systems to network with it.GA P35 DQ6 Mb, Intel Wolfdale 8600 3.33Ghz C2D CPU., 4x2Gb Mushkin DDR2 1066 PC2 8500 Ascents Memory Mods., PNY-nVidia GE Force 8800 GTS (640MB), 4-Western Digital Caviar SATA(2) HDD's (internal), 1 EIDE-USB External; Hauppauge PVR 1600 TV tuner, Dual Monitor: STANDARD up top for standing up and getting stuff done; 24" WIDESCREEN below for kicking back, layin on the floor, watchin TV and playing around; Altec Lansing Speakers.
