win 7 and other drives not working together
ok I purchased a system (amd 2.8ghz, 6gb mem, 500gb hdd, 1gb video ati 4870, 2dvd rw, 1 floppy)now I have some things I do that need to be saved on the floppy, the problem I have is the system reads all the floppy's I put in it,but it wont write to any of them now we have checked the connection and replaced the cable and the floppy once but it is still happening. so my question is does win 7 not allow a floppy ?is it a driver ? or what . any ideas are appreciated. I know some are going to say why not use flash drives and I would but this is for my boss and he wants it on floppies.

Do the floppy disks have the write protect tab engaged? Were these old floppies that had data on them already or were they new?MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Hi, This can be caused by floppy driver or motherboard. I would like to confirm if you can format this drives. Please update BIOS, chipset and floppy driver to latest version. If it does not work, you can try Windows XP mode. Here is the detailed information: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/get-started.aspx Hope it helps.Vivian Xing - MSFT

to answer your question yes I can format from the drive and I can read all files saved on any disk from someone elses computer but can not save to it at all. if I save some thing to it it lights up and makes noise then, then I try to read it but there nothing there. It has always read from it before we got win7 and since then its been a problem. we removed it and had win7 find and reinstall it so it would have the proper drivers but still no works.

According to search result, some users encountered this issue when they are using AMD CPU. You can find the detailed information at: http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/35316379/windows-7-home-premium-64.aspx Given this situation, I suggest trying XP mode.
