where windows 7 stores it's folder view
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags
Where windows 7 stores it's folder view among above two places? Both seem to same similar amount of data and it is confusing me. Can any one mind telling the significance of both of them? Thanks, Sitaram http://techibee.com http://sitaram-pamarthi.com

Hi,
By default, on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, the data for folder view settings and for customizations is stored in the following
registry keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags
But Windows Vista, windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 instead use the following registry key to store this information:
HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell
So, when you use Windows 7, the folder view store in HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell, they are
same though.
How to modify your folder view settings or to customize a folder, you can refer to:

Hope it helps.

Thanks for your reply.
I am just wondering why HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags key in windows 7 is holding some keys inside it when it has no role to play in windows 7Thanks, Sitaram http://techibee.com http://sitaram-pamarthi.com
