My hard drive partion isnt showing up at all. It shows up running vista but not with windows 7 is there something special i have to do?

Probably you have to mount the drive manual. But sorry, I use the german version so i cant say you how to do that. In german it's "Datentrgerverwaltung". There you can select every partition and give it a drive letter to mount it.

I have the same problem. I have XP on a Dell E5500 and created a new partition, which I installed Windows 7. Windws 7 is finew, but it can't see the portition that XP is installed on. I dont understand the answer given above - any ideas on how Windows 7 can see the XP partition so it can access the files on it. Neil

To make an existing partition visible do the following1. open the start menu2. right click on Computer and select Manage3. select Disk Management4. right click on the disk partition that does NOT have a letter associated with and select Change Drive Letter and Paths...5. Oh cool, I was wondering about this myself.I'm guessing that it's to pre-emptively avoid compatability issues or something like the problems dual-booting XP and Vista together? Or to prevent loss or corruption of data I guess, like that mp3 issue they released a fix for just before the public release.

I also have this problem, but after I give the drive a new letter my system freezes. I have tried the 32 & 64 bit versions and they both do the same thing.I am going to uninstall until a more stable release is available.

I tried that several times. The letter C is not available. I have 2 physical hard drives C and D. My C drive is 1 TB so I created a drive "W" about 50 GB in size and installed Windows 7 there. (I have 2 DVD drives, and external drive and some USB thumb drives etc. and wanted a drive letter I wouldn't need for something else.)Anyway, why doesn't Windows see the drive in "COMPUTER"? I can't access that drive directly and that's where my photos, music, and docs are.Thanks,Charlie

Just a quick followup: I was able to assign a different letter (not C) so at least I can access the files. When I tried access XP's My Documents (via Documents and Settings etc.), I got a pop up saying "You don't currently have permission to access this folder. Click Continue to permamently get access to this folder."I did not click because I figured it might cause problems when I return (reboot) to XP.Charlie
