where are the windows games executable files?
i did my 2nd win7 install (both 64x, one home premium, one pro). both install a number of the usual windows games (eg solitaire, hearts etc). on one system it's ok. on the other system i got all the links in the start menu but the links are all dead, ie not functional. i can't on either system figure out where the executable files are to build links to. help please.

Hi gbr2Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games. Each one of the installed games will have a sub-folder there that contains the executable for each game. Most of these are game name+exe.Hope this helps.Thank You for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

thanks ronnie. the installation for some wierd reason the install process didn't put in any of the microsoft games folder. thus when i tried to search nothing came up. i will copy the folder from another system. i hope nothing else is missing!

uh oh. i copied the ms games folder over. the icons in the start menu all lit up (obviously the *.exe files are in the correct place). however none of the programs will run. if i try to run them either from the start menu links or the *.exe in win explorer, NOTHING happens. what's up?

HiFirst, remove the folders you copied over from the other system.Open Control Panel / Programs and Features / Turn Windows Features on or off.If the Games show as being installed (check marks) remove the check marks, press OK to uninstall them.Exit everything and reboot. Go back to Control Panel and try installing the Games again.Let us know the results.Thank You for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Have a look to see if they are present in Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on/off in the left pane and look for Games? If present, select the ones you want.
