when logging to Windows 7 machines, screen goes blank
Hi, I have a strange problem in my windows 7 machines. When my collegues logon to the windows 7 machines in the morning , the screen goes black and we cannot do anything. The only way to resolve this is to reboot the machine. This normally happens only in the morning and only with windows 7 machines. Kindly help regarding this. I have installed the FixShell_12345_V1_2_0_0_0.zip file and the issue didnt happened for a while, but today again the screen went black. Kindly help me regarding this. We have around 70 machines in the network . Thanks Unni

i assume with 70 pc's, its a domain environment. does this happen if you log on locally, eg as local admin? do you use logon scripts that execute programs? when the screen is black, can you use alt+ctrl+del to fire up task manager?

This sounds exactly like one of my client's machines the other day. In my instance the machine had been hibernated and did exactly as you described, and I (as FZB suggests) was able to Ctrl-Alt-Delete and run Task Manager. From there I clicked 'File', and 'New Task' and executed 'shutdown -r' (without the quotes). This rebooted the machine properly and brought it back to its normal running state. Hope this helps.Alan Moseley

Hi Unni, Please let me know if any error is received when startup the PC? If the issue occurs on Windows 7 computers whatever domain users or local users login, I suggest updating BIOS and devices (such as graphic card) driver from manufacture's site. Also, you could test the issue in Safe Mode, change different monitors. If the issue only occurs with specific accounts, it could be corrupted user profile. I suggest creating or trying different users to login. In addition, since the issue involves domain environment, please also confirm the issue with Server Forum. Windows Server Forum http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsserver Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
