what is happening?
I was setting up my mom's new dell laptop with windows 7 professional. everything was running very smoothly on it until she asked me to install her at&t USBConnect Mercury Laptop connect device. i installed the software, and opted not to have at&t communications software control my network connections. After the restart the computer would not connnect to the wireless network that had previuously been set up. When i attempted to open the network interface, it would animate as if i had clicked on it, but it wouldn't open the bar. when i attempted to open the networks and sharing menu, the program would show up in my task manager as running but would never acutally open. when i attempted to open the at&t communications manager it would open its loading screen, but would not open or show up in the task manager. i then uninstalled the at&t communications manager software and restarted. now the network management tool is missing from the bottom bar entirely, and when i attempt to open networks and sharing, it does the same as before. all this is compounded by the fact that im doing this for my mom, and have not used a windows computer with any frequency since the early xp days. i'm in a little bit over my head hear and i need some help to know what the ____ is happening to this 6 hour old computer. Thanks.
